Ever see an athlete win a gold medal or a national championship and then say, “Well that was fun; guess it’s time to retire on the beach”?
They start strategizing and training for the next win. Their mission is to beat their personal record and do it even bigger and better the next time around. They don’t want to be a one-time champion; they want to leave a legacy and enter the hall of fame!
That’s the same mentality you have to have in this business.
Don’t just build it. Attack it.
Don’t just take action. Take MASSIVE action.
Don’t just lead. Run the play.
If you want to be respected as a leader, you have to be consistent in your strategy for success. And most importantly, you have to be honest with yourself:
When was the last time you climbed the ranks?
Are you on your way to the hall of fame, or are your glory days behind you?
Many people build this business like a one-hit-wonder—a singer who makes it big off of one great song and slips from the spotlight, never to be heard of again. They hit a big goal and then they stop planning, dreaming, and working. Sometimes they ride off of that one achievement for years, never to climb the ranks again!
Rank advancement is a big achievement; I’ll give you that. But receiving a new pin or qualifying for an incentive trip shouldn’t be the end-all-be-all of your drive and determination. If you want to be great, you must keep your foot on the gas at all times and accelerate to the top.
Your commission rank is where your PRIDE and bragging rights should come from, not your recognition rank.
In this industry, the rewards for consistent performance and hard work are far greater than the rest.
Think of this business like a shooting range. It’s you vs. the target. In order to hit that bullseye in the middle, you have to stay laser focused shot after shot. You might waste a bullet or two in the process, but what’s most important is that you keep your finger on the trigger and don’t give up.
POW! The second you land that perfect shot and nail your target, you’re left with a choice: do you pack up your supplies and head home, or do you challenge yourself to hit the bullseye as many times as possible?
Now let’s bring that concept full circle. Let’s say you finally hit your goal for the year—whether it be achieving Diamond for the first time or going Blue Diamond. Great! Good for you. Proud of you!
But that pin won’t stay shiny for long, my friend. It’s not just about the one-time recognition; it’s about what you do NEXT. That’s what counts. Don’t brag about your newfound Blue Diamond status when your commission rank doesn’t say the same thing.
I challenge you to make your commission rank match your recognition rank. Every week. Don’t settle.
You’ve got to hit those high-rank cycles so consistently that it creates a rhythm to a song you can’t get out of your head. Don’t forget, your family depends on you; your team depends on you. Aim for that next championship ring; aim for Imperial Blue Diamond!
Don’t stop until you get there.
